Working on these images today took me a lot longer than anticipated! But I’ve got my faves done & ready for your viewing pleasure! When I signed up for Scarlett’s Workshop I (we, the other girls) had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT SCARLETT HAD UP HER SLEEVE FOR US! She ever-oh-so-calmly announced via Twitter/FB/her blog that she had a big video announcement coming that day for us attendees & anyone who may have not have signed up yet. All day it was waiting, waiting, anticipation, more waiting…and then finally IT was announced! One of America’s Next Top Model Winners would be our model for the workshop! But the cliffhanger…she wouldn’t tell us which one! Uggghhhhh!!!
Now anyone who knows me knows that America’s Next Top Model is one my ultimate favorite shows! I’ve seen every single cycle! I heart reality TV of any kind! My DVR is full of episodes of Project Runway, The Real World, Real World/Road Rules Challenge, Teen Moms, High School Reunion (the show people, not the movie!), The Real Housewives of Orange County (the New York ones too!), the list goes on & on & on! And if you’re a client of mine, particularly my brides, I’m sure you’ve heard me tell you more than once to give me your “FIERCE” face, give me “broke down baby doll” poses, smize at me, or “think America’s Next Top Model” poses! I’m obsessed with that show! So at this point I didn’t care which girl it was, just that it was a winner from the show! I couldn’t even have begun to guess which one it would be!
Fast forward to Day Two of Scarlett Lillian’s Workshop…it’s around 11 a.m., Scarlett runs out to meet her outside before she comes in ANNNNNNNDDDDD…dun dun dun…in walks Whitney Thompson! Woohoo…winner of Cycle 10! I LOVED her on her season & could not have been more happier! She came in & gave a little talk before she went up to get all beautified for us! And during this talk she told one of the most ridiculous things I’ve heard about the modeling industry…a size 6 is considered PLUS SIZE! What the what?!? And that a size 4 is getting too big to model also! If you don’t watch the show, Whitney was the first “plus” size winner. When she walked in this girl is far from what we typically think of as “plus” size. She’s got just enough curves in all the right places & looks HEALTHY! After hearing that about that particular industry it’s no wonder why so many girls have body image issues! It’s really sad to me the girls who can’t embrace their inner “fierceness” & just be comfortable in their own skin. I’m so glad Whitney won & is such a positive role model for girls everywhere!
She just launched a new candle & jewelry line shop so be sure to check it out! It’s called Supermodel!
Day Two of the workshop focused on workflow & off-camera lighting. Now I consider myself an all natural light kinda girl! But I was stoked to being pushed outside of that comfy box & into a whole new world! I felt a little disadvantaged because I didn’t have Pocketwizards to be able to move right along with the other girls…but I do now!
If anyone thought getting shots on Day One was hectic..getting shots on Day Two was just plain out crazy! It’s not everyday you get to photograph a Supermodel! But Scarlett was gracious enough to let us borrow her Pocketwizards & so were the other girls in the workshop! I shot as much natural light outside as possible while I was waiting my turn for a Pocketwizard. When I uploaded my images from when I shot with off-camera lighting I was floored! I was so thrilled at what I had captured…because again…off-camera lighting is so me out of my element! I was very excited to get to try something new! I will definitely be using my newfound skills in some of my future shoots! So get ready girls to rock it like a supermodel!
Here’s Whitney! And here’s the team of people who helped her look even more fabulous!
Fashion Stylist: Melanie Pace
Hair: Amber Kish
Make Up: Paulina Perez

Now this next image below tied me for 2nd place in a 4-way tie with the other girls in Scarlett’s second contest she offered! Scarlett then picked her favorite for a 2nd place winner. Some of the girls commented that the image looked like the spread for a perfume ad! I’m waiting Chanel! ;D

This last image reminds me of Old Hollywood! She’s stunning!

If you missed my recap & images from Day One…they can be found here!
THANK YOU again Scarlett for giving us this wonderful opportunity & for all the inspiring words you gave to each & everyone of us! I’m so glad to have a “cheerleader” in this industry…and now I have 19 more! I hope you take this show on the road in the future!
xoxo
