Scarlett Lillian Workshop…Day One

It’s hard to believe that a week ago, close to the same time, we got done shooting our images for Day One at Scarlett Lillian’s first ever group workshop! I swear time flies quicker & quicker each year! I was going to do another videoblog post before posting these. But I’m already in my pajamas for the night…meaning no makeup on, hair is not fixed! I’ve been out in the freezing cold weather today shooting some “trash the dress” pics & I’m exhausted! But I knew if I didn’t come in, edit and post these then who knows when they would get posted!

Julia & Matt, the engaged couple in the pics, were such troopers that day! They stood around & modeled for us for about 3.5 hours in the chilly, windy weather down in FL! Now if you’ve never done a workshop in which you got to shoot models & there are at least 20 other people around, then you’re in for a big surprise! I’ve shot in a workshop environment like that before so I had an idea already in mind what I was in for. It can be complete utter chaosis at times…but in a good way! Yes, it’s frustrating because you can’t get “your” shot with so many others shooting at the same time. BUT it makes you think outside of that box & forces you to find different angles, maneuvers, etc. to get your shot! Luckily, we did each get our own 5 minutes to be “top” photographer…meaning we got to direct & be up front conducting the shoot! Scarlett’s only rule for that was you couldn’t shoot in the same place some else just did…no pressure! :)

At the end of the day we were to pick & edit two of our favorite pics from the day to be entered into one of the contests Scarlett was doing. And GUESS WHAT?? My image WON me first place the next morning! I won a fabulous Shootsac! I was so stoked because 1. there were a lot of great images entered 2. I NEVER EVER win anything!

So without further adieu…here are Julia & Matt’s images taken at Scarlett Lillian’s Workshop!

I’m so fortunate to live so close to the beach in NC that when we went down to the beach that day I honestly didn’t shoot that many! I practically LIVE at the beach in the spring/summer doing shoots!
